Diploma Programs

Upon completion of the Computer Accounting Program, the student will be awarded a Diploma. To earn a Diploma, the student must complete the program with a C or better overall average. The student must have met or made arrangements to meet all financial obligations to the school. Students must complete no less than 80% of total clock hours on the anticipated date of graduation.

COMPUTER ACCOUNTING
Students completing this program will be qualified to obtain entry- level positions in the financial/accounting job cluster areas. Vocational skills will include manual accounting, functional knowledge of A/R, A/P, payroll, income statement and balance sheet through special journals; computerized accounting including the full accounting cycle for service and merchandise environments. Students will obtain computer skills from basics to networking and be competent using spreadsheet software. Microsoft Office and Peachtree software are included in this program.

Certificate Programs

Upon completion of the Software Applications and Information Processing Program, the student will be awarded a Certificate. Upon completion of an individual course or course combinations the student will receive a Certificate. To earn a Certificate, the student must complete the course(s) with a C or better overall average. The student must have met or made arrangements to meet all financial obligations to the school. The student must complete no less than 80% of total clock hours on the anticipated date of graduation.

SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS
Students completing this program will be qualified to perform a variety of administrative duties in any type of business. Administrative Support positions are employed throughout the economy and their range of duties is broad. Computer skills are a necessary skill set for the Administrative Support job cluster. Students will be using the most current versions of the Microsoft family of products.

INFORMATION PROCESSING
Students completing this program will be qualified to obtain entry-level positions in the clerical and information processing job cluster. Vocational skills obtained will include keyboarding, introduction to office software such as word processing, spreadsheet and database management, and computer terminology with an introduction to the Internet. Students will improve telephone communication skills. Students will be using MS Office.

English as a Second Language

ESLThe three ESL courses (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced) will provide students with skills that will allow them to enhance their capability of comprehending English on the job. Additionally, these courses will develop basic reading, listening, understanding, writing, and speaking skills that are necessary in their personal lives and on the job.

Lecture, student participation and exercises will be used as the teaching method along with homework. Areas of importance include reading skills, understanding what one
reads, writing about a topic, editing skills, vocabulary development, asking questions, responding to questions, grammatical structure, and oral expression as pertains to what was read and to classroom dialogue.

Each student will be given a pre-test to determine their appropriate instructional/course level and a post-test, at the end of each course, to determine progress.
